Colonial Table
Hans Bellmann, 1945/48
Hans Bellmann is a designer who had a lasting influence on industrial design in Switzerland. His Colonial Table is a handy side table that can be adjusted for different needs - it is sturdy yet easy to disassemble. The Vitra Design Museum is now presenting it in its original size and a slightly smaller version that was first made in the 1950s. Collection Vitra Design Museum.

Nesting Tables
Josef Albers, 1926/27
Josef Albers was mainly involved in furniture design during his time at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where, for a short time, he was also artistic director of the furniture workshop. Vitra Design Museum has re-issued his Nesting Tables - originally created for the so-called Moellenhof House in Berlin: they combine clear geometrical shapes with use of colour derived from Albers' painterly oeuvre. On the under side, the glass table tops are lacquered turquoise, yellow, red, or blue. Collection Vitra Design Museum.

Metal Side Table
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2004
The Metal Side Tables belong to that category of furniture, which, while not being the focal point of the fittings, is nonetheless indispensable in making them complete. Small, rather unassuming aids, they can be easily moved to other locations and used for a wide variety of purposes, performing a wide range of valuable services. Thanks to the harmony of their dimensions and the attractive formal contrast between slender table tops and voluminous, socle-like legs, they make an attractive addition wherever they stand.

Box
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2004
Box is a multifunctional storage unit that doubles up as a sidetable. Its soft rounded carcass is clad on the inside and outside with a fine woven fabric; cables can be slotted upwards through the cut-out in the top panel. In this way, a portable computer, a small TV, a reading lamp or a table fan can be placed on Box.

Prismatic Table
Isamu Noguchi, 1957
Noguchi's "Prismatic Table" is based on purely geometric forms. This novel three-legged side table with its hexagonal tabletop is made of folded sheet aluminium and was inspirerd by traditional Japanese paper folding techniques. Collection Vitra Design Museum.
