Bar Boy
Verner Panton, 1963
Verner Panton was interested in the theme of mobility in his designs. One of his best-known items of furniture on castors is Bar Boy, designed in 1963. A mobile container and side-table in one, it owes its cylindrical shape to Panton's predilection for basic geometric shapes and to its function. Collection Vitra Design Museum.

Bahut
Jean Prouvé, 1951
In his furniture designs, Jean Prouvé combines his technical know-how and the opportunities offered by his production facility in Maxéville with his unique industrial aesthetics. The Bahut sideboard dating from 1951 has an unusual decorative character thanks to the use of diamond sheet metal, emphasized by the cream-white lacquer.

Self
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2000
Self is a modular shelved display cabinet which invites its user to interact with it. There are only two elements to Self. Its horizontal shelves and vertical dividing walls come in a variety of sizes and colours and can easily be built in flexible configurations and without tools. Self can be closed, open or accessed from both sides and can function as a bookshelf, display cabinet or room divider.

Kast
Maarten Van Severen, 2005
A key theme in the oeuvre of Maarten Van Severen is storage furniture, be it shelves, cupboards or sideboards. The design for Kast, which Van Severen worked on during the last few months of his life, can be considered the quintessence of his exploration of the subject. Kast is a storage unit that is modular in structure, the base version of which is a sideboard. Supplemented by two simple wooden crates and a further basic module, a shelf/wall cupboard combination arises. Van Severen paid special attention to the colour for the sliding doors, which not only emphasise Kast’s elegant and yet seemingly classical proportions, but also give it a fresh and optimistic sense.
Materials: tubular stainless steel legs, individually height adjustable. Shelves made of extruded eloxy aluminium profiles. Side walls made of powder-coated MDF. Maritime pine laminate with lacquering for a natural grain feel. Sliding doors in pink, dark green, bronze-grey, bright white, dark blue and sulphur yellow powder-coated sheet aluminium....
